Rose is now taking glucoseamine...Dr. Fred was our vet this time. We have been going to Fred since he opened 30 years ago. He was a one man show and hardly charged for tending to small animals. He was/is a big animal vet. Ten-plus years ago he opened his practice up by moving to a new building and bringing some other vets on board. It got clinical then, but the care was good. Well yesterday, we went back to just Fred.
He talks constantly when not reading or thinking (which is good.) Glucoseamine is a joint medication, that THEY have found to be effective in cats who have various and sundry urinary problems and he wanted to try it on Rose. To get all that out, he describes his wife's illness, his mother's illness, blood in cat urine and blood in dog ejaculate...you are forever learning with Fred and may want to cry out, "Too much information."
So at $.50 a pill she gets three a day for 30 days and then we evaluate...and perhaps go to generic human glucoseamine for maintenance therapy. We will see. All I can say right now is that she likes the poochie chewables and can't understand why she can't be in the house.
I got a good report from the dentist...all that clean living...and there too realized that perhaps one more trip next spring will conclude a 25 year relationship with Doc Cassell. That is longer than with any other dentist. (My first one, my dad, only lasted 21 years...)
Aleene continues to pack or prepack which will come to a hault this morning while she goes to Habitat for her Thursday morning volunteering.
Marilyn successfully had her wisdom tooth out and is recuperating nicely, Wes reports, with the usual lumps and bruises.
