Aleene and I are enjoying this unique (for us) summer. Today she is off to Habitat and I am outside on the deck writing. It is about 60 degrees with brilliant sunshine...it is days like this that remind us why we live in Michigan.
We are doing Hope plays again this year...I think I mentioned that before. We saw the musical rendition of "Cat in a hat" the other night...it was super. We had seats in the front row, right and I had to keep my legs curled up so as not to interfere with the actors. I love that. One guy was on roller blades and he used the space in front of us to brake and turn around. I was inches from him and he was so focused. One of the characters, a girl, was in some frothy, lacy outfit and she had been just a hoofing it on stage and she came down on our level waiting for her next jump up on stage and I could see her breathing, really hard. I could almost hear her heart beating, we were that close. That is how I like to experience a play. I always told Aleene...get seats close up. I want to see the actors sweat. Well, Tuesday, I did. We go back Saturday night for another one..not sure which, but I doubt it will be as interactive as Cat.
We were sitting just in front of Jane Eppard and her four year old Madeline. Jane is an old friend from Hart & Cooley.
We had plans for a busy August with people visiting, but that is changing, so August will not be as calendar driven as I thought it might be. I am working more in August, so the calendar still dictates when we can camp. Right now the motor home sits and that is not a good thing. I read this morning the RV people are having a good year as people are doing things closer to home due to the price of gas. That makes sense. We travel less than 100 miles to camp and that cuts the cost of operation significantly.
Aleene and Marilyn saw Lily Lancaster in the hospital yesterday. She is on a wait list for UofM for her bone marrow transplant. She was really feeling ill, but they gave her some steroids and by the time they saw her she felt much better. She is still in Bronson. The prognosis is touch and go...
Barb and Margot stopped in yesterday. It is great having the Hafers here in Holland. We get to see them so much more. Barb had never been in our condo...which is our fault...so I gave her a tour. I have not seen her in a while. It does not take long to reconnect with old friends. Barb was 12 when we moved here and did so much with us and especially our kids growing up in the '70s...yikes, where did the time go? Her boys are 20 and 17ish! She is a firm yes for Jeff's wedding, she said. I think Jeff was an usher in her wedding 20 plus years ago.
Until later....
