Closing down the Oregon trip

Time goes by quickly...or relatively so when you are having fun. Today we made our trip to North Valley Friends. I have talked about this Quaker community in the past. They have a lovely setting at the base of the hills outside Newberg...and they know it. They treasure their spot. After Meeting we came back here for lunch (610 E. 5th) and then Aleene and I went for a spin to Mac-ville (McMinnville, OR) where we have thought we might settle. We are still not sure.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each location and while we love Mac-ville there is a charm about Newberg that we are picking up on more and more. Namely...living in town within walking distance to everything. I begin thinking one car here. We will have to see what the future holds. If our plans work out, then it was meant to be. We will get here with our belongings and just see where we end up...not unlike the early settlers who inhabited this valley.

Aleene is still painting trim...I rolled the baby's room while the family is able to enjoy some time uninhibited...and Amy checks her last sets of papers for grades which are due tomorrow.

I leave about three in the afternoon. I have to turn in the car and then check in to fly to LAX. After a long layover, I board for the overnight to ORD...then another wait and then off to SBN.

Margot says Rose is doing fine. She will have to keep me awake as we cruise up M-142 to South Haven Tuesday morning. When we get home I have papers to check and a nap to take and then off to the airport to pick up Aleene...sometime in the late evening. At long last we will both be home.

The Willamette Valley sure is beautiful this time of year. We spent a week here last year at Pacific City and we are remembering that. We would love to spend next Father's day here in the motor home...with only an hour to drive home instead of five days....time will tell.
