Up North...again

Here we are in Lake Arrowhead. Made it up here without having to stop and help anyone this time. Met Jeff for supper and then proceeded to the Cadillac Area Airport while he gave a spotter talk to some community members and CAP people. Good job, Jeff. There were 21 of us including some Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadets. They are teens that are interested in aviation careers and dress in quasi-military uniforms (Aleene was worried that they might be part of the Michigan Malitia. Well, you never know up in the north country.)

Jeff was coming off evening shift so he was home today and does not go back out for four days. We walked this morning on our usual Lake Arrowhead route in 25 degrees. But it is so calm and dry. There is a fire watch up here it is so dry. They could use the rain.

We meet Mary's daugher Trisha and her hubby, Ben for supper tonight. We did not see them Easter weekend when we were here. This will be one last time for Big Buck, for those of you who know the area. This is the signature restaurant/brewery that we have used as respite to hard day's work many times in the past seven years, so it seemed appropriate for our adult gathering tonight.

Our rental car is a miniscule Chevy which gets 35 mpg. It is amazingly large...room enough for me to wear a cap inside and seat four people comfortably. There is very little trunk space, however. Does that sound familiar, Amy? This boat has no cruise, no electric locks...it is basic, but ooohhh so inexpensive for the four days we need it.

Jeff and Mary have the house for sale. They hope to sell this summer and get a place in either Boyne Falls or Boyne City to be closer to the younger kids so they can live with them. The location is essential for school attendance desires and they need more room.

We zing (the car sounds like a big bug) to Holland, tomorrow, Saturday morning...and back to the packing and dinnering we have been doing the past several weeks. The days are dwindling down to a precious few.

I have to opposite problem with cars.. The pedals are too far away, the steering wheel is too high, I can see over the dash.. I can see out the back..
Good luck with the move! Laura's stuff made it safe and sound on Tuesday morning. She is shopping at a mall in Chandler?? as I type.
