The Sub-tropics are boring, right?

I don't want to rub it in, but it is well into the 70s again today and the sun is actually hot. There are a lot of shirtless old guys walking around (I know they are old because they have grey hair everywhere I can see.) The women know better, both becasue they don't show their true color of hair and they keep their shirts on. Oh well.

Last night we went out for supper and ate on their screened in porch at a swing table. Nice atmosphere. Then we went to the mall and I bought some books. I got the next edition of Parker Palmer. I love his Quaker thinking.

Our neighbor is up on top of his 41 footer washing the roof. I am not sure why one does that because no one, except for anhingas and helocopters can see up there, but Aleene thought I might want to wash the roof our our puny 29 footer. Not today. Maybe on New Year's day. It is supposed to be pushing 80 both on Saturday and Sunday. I want it to be really hot when I get up there. I want it to remind me of painting the flat roof of our garage with tar when I was a kid. We always did it on Memorial Day (Decoration Day, we called it) and Labor Day. And then we listened to either the Indy 500 or the Pirates. So I will have to figure out what to listen to so I can really capture the feeling. If I don't come up with something in two days, maybe I won't get up there after all.

Anyway, it is beautiful and we got our LP serviced this morning for $3.50 a gallon (thank you very much for 7 gallons) by a woman whom I questioned was knowledgeable enough to do the job...but she did and she printed out the bill very professionally, so I don't want to make any rash assumptions. The place did not blow up and she did ask me if I had all my pilots turned off. By the way, Lloyd charges me $2 for LP in Holland. The most I had paid previously was $2.50 in California last year. But she drove her tanker right up to my lot and sat and chatted a while. Can't beat that. I learned that the big rigs do not use LP much. Everything is electric including their heaters. We use a small ceramic heater at night some times, but we cook, heat water and have the option of using LP with the refrigerator. We have been running the refer on electric when plugged in and I will see to it that we conserve LP in the future...whew.

I guess you can tell I have Way Too Much time on my hands to comment about these things, but that is the place in life we are this weekend. Bobbie and Don arrive in FL tomorrow, so we will likely motor with Rose over there in the Jeep for a few days...Ft. Meyers, here we come...just waiting to get in your traffic jams. That is one nice thing about this area...not much traffic.
Three weeks from today we pull out for a long weekend in the Pan Handle then across Texas...pay our respects verbally as we tranist Los Crusis, NM (for Mary) and then on to Phoenix area by the 26th for a week. Mail has been flowing in here at Sebring. Once it stops in about two weeks, we will get none until we pull into Oregon on February 8.

Ramble, ramble, ramble...
Peace to all and Happy New Year (we will be celebrating at the "Club" here at Tanglewood with Willie and Dana.) Aleene has purchased all the ingredients for a pork, saurkraut, and mashed potato dinner on New Year's Day, in keeping with the Coryea, Kneram, Lutz (Pennsylvania German) tradition. Eat your hear out, Jeff.
