Margot Hafer complained to Aleene that I had not written enough...so, Margot here's one for you.
We went to a state park this morning which is virtually around the corner. The park was made by the CCC in the late thirties and the little man there was in the CCC and knew all about it. He ended up being from Miur, MI (as in Lyons-Miur) and he worked on Hartwick Pines. Small world. We walked many of the paths out into the swamp which are elevated on board walks. At one we saw an alligator sunning himself. Just then three otters about six feet long came swimming along and popped up on the log Mr. Gator was using to prop up his head. They knew right away what they were looking at and began darting about trying to get his goat. Mr. Gator finally moved a bit and the otters swam circles around him and off into another part of the swamp. Mr. Gator just repositioned and continued sunning (notice I said sunning).
We ate lunch there and walked another trail or two then we came back to camp to clean up and are now over at Willie's doing some laundry. Yawn...I may have to take a nap soon.
Amy called with the news that she chopped a piece of finger and the side of her nail on one of her pointers. Doc said it will all grow back...slowly, but with baby, etc...ouch. Sorry, Amy...we will be there on February 8. Is that soon enough?
Florida is populated with old people and everyone else talks about how bad the weather is in the north... If I were a native I would get sick of both. Promise me, readers, if you ever come here...do so while you are able to care for yourself, AND don't talk about the weather. This is the sub-tropics, it is supposed to be hot here in the winter (even though the deciduous trees loose their leaves just like home.)
Peace...and, Jeff, good luck on mids- through the Christmas weekend.
