We are in Boise, so it must be Friday

Well, after a swift 16 days in Newberg, we broke camp at Champoeg for the last time this morning in characteristic Oregon Spring drizzle. Our plan was to wait around for traffic to clear in the Portland area and then move out. We were ready to go by 7:30 so we just left...

Not bad traffic, no slow downs and within 45 minutes we cleared the city with nothing on our left but the magnificent Columbia River. Two hundred plus miles we followed the Big One...in a constant drizzle...until, that is we cleared the Dalles...then it stopped and we had sun breaks to the extent I even had my sun glasses (robo-pappy type) on and then off several times.

I-84 is such a reminder of the migration of the settlers in the mid-19th century...how they must have felt when they saw the Columbia...it is big.

Got to Pendleton, no problem, then up and over the Blue Mts. to Le Grande and the wind started right on schedule. By Baker City the wind was at our back and we cruised through Ontario and into ID right on schedule...one hour later due to the time change. We debated wheter to stay in Boise some 470 miles out of Newberg or to go on another 70 to Mountain Home...the next RV park we could see in our book...we opted for Boise. Pappy and Rose were tired...

So we stopped and ate and now prepare for an early bed call so we can roll out of here early...Boise is quite congested.

Our goal tomorrow is Rock Springs, WY which is another 500 miles to the east southeast.

Our thanks to AK and Bren for all the great memories of our 2005 trip to Newberg...and to Tru for all the joy he gave us for 16 wonderful days...

Oh yes, we found a park with WiFi...how convenient.
