Indiana

Aleene and I motored to Indiana Monday morning in our Gulfstream Conquest...pulling her Jeep. It was our first experience at towing a car. Yikes, a bit scarry. There you have thousands of dollars of your own equipment...not to mention the responsibility of the lives of those around you going down the highway at 55-60 mph.

Anyhow, it went well. We got to Bloomington in six hours and checked into to the camp ground, heated up the motorhome and enjoyed good TV reception...Monday Night Football...one of the constants for over 35 years.

Next day we went to see Martha Flynn at the care center where she resides in Elletsville, IN, only to find she had been admitted Sunday to Bloomington Hospital for infusion of electrolytes. It seems she gets dehydrated and goes south mentally and physically when this happens. So we were glad we had the Jeep...headed east into Bloomington, past IU and the stadium and found Martha...sleeping. Poor dear. It was 10:00 a.m. and we wanted to see her so we woke her up. She acknowledged us, but did not name us and fought off sleep for about ten minutes, then we left so she could rest. She kept saying, O dear, O dear, O dear, I wish I could entertain you'ins.
Found out later the next day that she did not remember us even being there. I am not surprised, she was just too out of it to comprehend.

Back to the campground and hooked up our Jeep and off we went through Indianapolis to Muncie, about 120 miles and into a farmer's back yard, type campground for $15. We had electricity...great TV...sewage and no water. But I had anticipated the water deficiency since the night before it was about 28 degrees. Soooo I took on H two O in the tank and we did just fine. Wednesday morning I showered (Navy shower) put on my best bib and tucker and off to the Deleware Country Club to entertain the folks at East Central Indiana HR Management Assn.
It went well....anyhow, they were rivited for 45 minutes and I sold about 12 books and then flew back to Farmertown to hook up the Jeep and get Out of Dodge.

Aleene had stuff ready...we hooked up (we were getting good at this after the third time) and motored up I-69 into Michigan and then west on I 94 through Kzoo and then home. Five hours and 258 miles...arriving after dark. Whew! first towing mission done. None the worse for wear.

Winterized the puppy this morning (Conquest, as Rose just grows a new coat each fall hereself) and now we wait for March and our outing to AZ CA and OR...what a deal.

Speaking of Rose, she loves to RV. She likes to poop in cornfields (That is where I trained her) and she does everything super...except eat. She goes on a crash diet the minute the wheels start to roll. What a dog. Incidentally, I got the THORN out of her paw that I mentioned the other day. She had been favoring the back quarter and I rolled her over and inspected her footsies only to find a burr between her pads. When I pulled it out, which she did not like (the process) she then licked my face vociferously...as if to say...what a great man you are Daddy.

That's enough BS for now....
