We got up this morning to snow on the ground...on the streets and in the trees. It, of course, was pretty, but such a pain. Bren and I were on our way to Portland at 6:30 for the second day of my seminar...we came to a screeching hault about a mile from home. Turn left, he said...yes, sir, said I.
Up we went; narrow road, hairpin turns, up, up, up (in 4wd, of course).
There had been multiple accidents on the main road to Portland US 99w which goes through Newberg...on a hill about two miles out of town. Traffic was backed up at least a mile and a half, so we out flanked the traffic jam up over the mountain. There was much more snow up there and then the fog. As we came down...again, narrow road, hairpin turns...I was wondering if was all worth it....then 15 minutes later we were back on 99w with no northbound traffic. We sailed the remaining twenty miles into Portland...no problem.
This is weird weather here. Probably two inches of snow on the ground with up to six inches in the near mountains and two feet of snow in the cascades. Does Arizona need some moisture? We will ship it right down.
The final day was as good as the first...we wrapped up about an hour ealy and came home on wet roads..no snow tonight on the return trip. However, more is predicted for tomorrow...yes, I can sleep in.
Amy's meetings were cancelled since the school had a two hour delay and she was observing a morning kindergarten. Aleene walked over and played snowman with the kids, took some pictures and walked back home. She painted all day, again.
It was French Bear for supper...yum; Chapter's for coffee then home for a nap. Yes, this is the life. Let it snow.
