We are pulling out of Arizona tomorrow, Saturday. There is a bit of strategy involved here: we want to traverse LA on Sunday morning and then be somewhere to watch the SB in the not so late afternoon.
Our time in Goodyear with Jan and Gary has been special. They have carved out a delightful place in the desert to stay warm and sheltered. We spent lots of time walking, shopping, talking, and oh yes, throw in in eating. We did our share of that too. Jan had a meal for every occasion, each one as yummy as the last.
Wes and Marilyn pulled out this early afternoon. They were headed for Tucson, then to Los Crusis and on to Austin, TX. Who knows after that? We had a great visit with them too.
The Phoenix area was experiencing the longest drought on record... 108 days and counting. But really, they only missed out on about two inches of rain...so in reality, it matters little. The benefit is the fact that each day is sunny and has a warmth of between 65 and 80 degrees. Yes, the desert nights are cool...sometimes frosty, but talk about clear skies and beautiful sunsets...whew.
But we leave this all behind as we go toward Palm Springs, CA and then on to the San Jauquin valley....350 miles of flat farm land. We most likely will be in the Newberg area on Tuesday....again, whew. What a trip.
That's it for now...and a tip of the hat to the Frens' for their generous hospitality.
