Spaghetti Factory

Portland has a vibrant downtown. Along the river (Willamette) they have done a great job of saving some old buildings and turning them into thriving enterprises....Spaghetti Factory is one of them.

We went shopping on our way to dinner, courtesy of Jeff. He gave Amy and Bren a gift certificate for Home Depot and gave Aleene and me cards for REI the camping/outfitting store. These are both located in Tualatin, OR which is a 'burb of PDX. So by four thirty, we were hungry and had our bags full. Of to SF we went.

This is a BIG old building (not to be confused with GR's BOB) but it is....heavy wooden doors with bevelled glass in them....big waiting area and a caticomb of dining rooms. And lots of kids. When you see the menu you know why. Spaghetti marinara style is seven fifty and the trimmings go on up....but the thing is that includes the drink, salad, bread(enless) AND ice cream at the end...what a deal.

So at five this place is jumping and we had to wait for about ten minutes. Truman had his little poke of crayons and did a good job of entertaing himself as the courses arrived. He even chose me to take him to the banos during the wait, which was a treat to be chosen, but I had to wind my way out through the crowd....and then back. I didn't tell them, but I had to ask directions coming back. Actually, I picked the cutest waitress to ask and she was most helpful.

Aleene and I go mushroom garnish...Tru a meatball and the thirty somethings got half and half choice thing which I can't remember except Brendon's was all white sauce...and I would never choose white sauce on spaghetti....

When we left the waiting room was so crowded that you had to excuse yourself to get out. That is aways fun when you are hand in hand with a three year old who cannot see anything he is so low to the ground.... but people give way to us because he is soooo cute. He is. They say it as you pass...."Look at that little boy, isn't he cute?"

We think this was the third or fourth time we have done the SF in the eight years we have been comeing to PDX. Good choice.

Today is not scheduled, but we may go out for breakfast and we may walk down town. I will get a nap...saving up for the trip back on Saturday.
