Laughing and crying

We did both as we unwound from the tension and strain of Tuesday. The memorial service, attended by about 300 was inspirational. Bruce was a catalyst at Fort Hill UMC. Person after person remarked how instrumental he was in encouraging the congregation to move forward. One of his daughters, two sons-in-law and a grand daughter told of his love and devotion to his family. It was tough to think about the world around the family as being without Daw (partly Paw and partly Dad, Carrie told us.) We could not have had better weather.

Today was cold and windy, so we stayed close to home...actually put away Christmas decorations in 'bucket brigade" fashion. Some of us played cards, (and laughed while playing,) napped, talked and laughed with an occasional tear. Cindi, Tammi, Phyllis, Jim, Nancy, Anne, and I held down the fort most of the day. Cheri and Kyle were there for a few hours with their kids...everyone else went home.

Tomorrow is departure day for J, N, and me...Cindi will drive me to Richmond about 2 hours away. I am sure that leaving will be hard, but life will go on.

Life will get back to a new normal...it will take time.
