A few hours Up North

We left for Gaylord at 6:30 a. m. today...through the snow showers. The roads were clear, but wet as far as Cadillac, then they were snow covered. We stayed on 131 through Alba and past Dead Man's Hill and turned east on M-32 figuring it would be better than Mancelona Road and Hayes Tower Road, our usual route...and we were right. It just took longer.

We walked in to a fairly packed church just before the introit. Jeff, Mary and Kaleb had saved us a seat near the back, so we were set. Good service, good preaching, beautiful setting...

We ate at the Sugar Bowl which is normal for us when we go to church. SB is really an old fashioned restaurant...tradition, building, service, etc. reminds me of NC back in the 50s.

Down Hayes Tower...which was the worst part of the trip and into Lake Arrowhead...glad we were in the Jeep.

Stayed until about 3:30 p. catching up on news and stuff, then headed back down the pike. Hayes Tower was terrible, again as was Mancelona Road...but it was a breeze from there on...did the speed limit the whole way home. Oh yes, Rose had a good trip and is back now ready for the next adventure.

Mary has the house looking first class. It is decorated for Christmas for the first time and has the aroma and touch of a woman. The newly weds are doing well.

So off to a boomer week. I work three afternoons, Gary comes from AZ to spend some time in Fremont with his sister and we have a Christmas Party and then there are all the details concerned with pulling out for the south in ten days....yikes.
