A week with brother

Jim and Nancy have been here most of the week and their visit has been great. They have not been here for about 10 years, so there is much to see and remember: Crane's, the winery, our old street, and Saugatuck. We have done downtown (not don-tawn, like they say it in Pittsburgh) Holland (focus on JP's). The real fun (for Jim and me) is when we sit down to rest or eat. The conversation jumps right to the farm or elementary school and the stupid kid stuff that we observed on the bus or at 4-H meetings. Aleene and Nancy get this glazed over look when we talk about such stuff.

Jim and I were talking about barn stuff (the more earthy things cows do and have done to them) and how we learned our first lesson about sex vicarously through bossie, kitty, and the like. We found that Aleene was rushed to the house when their cows began to give birth and Nancy did not know what preganant meant until she was old enough to look it up in the dictionary. I do not think that is how little girls are being brought up today...and with good reason.

Jim likes to shop...not my favorite thing, but we all did sidewalk days in 'Tuck yesterday and they were able to pick up some bargains. Today we are going to Grand Haven and probably end up at the concert in the park here in Holland (after another stop at JP's). Tomorrow night we go to Blue Lake for the last concert of the season. Their son-in-law, who is an instructor there in Jazz piano, will be performing with a faculty group for a few numbers. Aleene and I went last year and it was great.

Enough on that...I will let you know how the concert goes on Sunday.

Keep praying for Lily...coming up on bone marrow transplant after intensive chemo...and for Cooper as he struggles to grow and gather strength.

Depending on the time of day you may have visited the old road, there could of been kids all over running around, or on bikes.. just like 25 years ago, Our yard probably looked like a toy junk yard.... sorry!
