Fourth of July

Just got back from an afternoon of conversation with some of our original Michigan friends...Duane & Margot Hafer, Wes and Marilyn Sievert and Donnalu and Bob Matula. Duane and Margot moved back to the area (now Holland) after over 25 years of living in Berrien County. They are in a condo not too far from us. Donnalu was the first person to visit us from the old Fennville neighborhood when we moved here in 1972. Wes and Marilyn came a long just a year or two later and have been part of our family ever since. It was much like old times...except there are those among us that are over 70 now...just think. Aleene is still the youngest.

We headed for South Haven and actually were able to walk the pier and then sit in the shade of a nice tree for about an hour before a storm blew in and scattered everyone. We ended up at Bob and Donnalu's in Fennville. I drove the van so the six of us were together. We picniced in Fennville.

This morning we got to Graafschap Fire Hall for their annual pancake breakfast. This became a tradition several years ago when we moved to Holland. We always see the same people...the Beckers and the Bos family. Karen Bos walked up with a long face and said...ok, who are we missing? Of course it was Jan and Gary who are now in Arizona. They always were part of the early 4th of July crowd at the pancake breakfast. So somethings do change.

Jeff and Mary are doing pictures on Flickr which you can see here. We have some up too. That way everyone can stay updated.

We are off to Texas on Friday...shh...it is supposed to be a surprise...so I put it up on the internet. Then, we go to PA the next weekend. Lots going on in July.

A great 4th...hope you all enjoyed it.

Hey... We can't see your pics--maybe you marked them as 'friends and family only' and then didn't add us to your friends and family list? (that'd be understandable. :-) )

The fix is in...thanks to JSL. I tried, but it was hidden a layer deeper than I suspected. Thanks, Jeff...and Bren for noticing.
