Well, we're home. Got the last 344 miles in from Iowa City area and got us (with a time change) here at 3:00 EDT. Washing machine is running, Rose is sleeping, and Aleene and I are going to shower (separately, this time) so we feel human enough to continue unpacking. Eating can come later. The Motor Home is in its resting place...6144 total miles. Average cost per gallon $2.124...and 9.1 mpg on the big Ford V-10...do the math, this was not the most economical trip in the world, but it sure was fun. The gas price in Holland is the highest of anywhere we travelled. What gives with that?
The final two days were mid-west boaring. The trip on Monday was windy...about as bad as the LA experience, though not as gusty. I was bushed at the end of the day from fighting the steering wheel every inch of the way. I gotta say that the motor home was stable, but it is work in wind. I love my V-10. Up and down mountains, passing trucks, getting out of the way...it was there.
Today from Iowa City in, it was great...even the Chicago-Gary-Hammond area went well. Imagine that. Once in Michigan, we felt great...we were within reach and just ahead of the weather. But today was great.
That's about it for now...I will continue blogging, but please pardon me if I do not do so as regularly.
