Blog entry…Wednesday morning, March 2
It is early in the morning. Rose and I got up to get her relieved and back in the MH…her kennel. I mentioned the animals. Their dogs are individuals…nice, but unique. They have a male Taco Bell dog (tri colored) who is three and got neutered the other day to keep him home and make him more of a lap dog. But he is jealous of Rose, who of course is a total wimp with other dogs…but not the goat. Anyway, former boy dog bit the mighty Rose in the nose last night. Boy dog was sitting on Aleene’s lap and Rose…nervous as could be... was pacing around and came over to her for some support and she got bit. She was ready to leave, right then, but had no where to escape. She ended up sleeping in our room because of the thunder (no storms here) so I took her out this morning and got her situated in the MH.
We are plugged into the barn which makes it nice…lights, heat if you need it, refrigerator, water (from our tank) and she can sleep in peace…so Rose is good to go. I am sure she will be happier when we leave. I shudder to think what five days in Phoenix will be like with Gary’s two dogs. They have not done well together on other occasions.
Elaine took today off and I think Amanda did too, so we will spend some time with her. Amanda lives about five miles away. They are quite happy here in North Texas…about 30 acres, a menagerie of pets, cattle, horses, and of course, goat whose name is Rusty (after Rusty Wallace the NASCAR driver). Elaine is in charge of a preschool daycare. They service kids from 18 months to five years. It is held in a very nice facility in a United Methodist church in Keller. She has been there for years. She is also teaching two evenings a week at a college near Denton…I will get the name later. We met her for supper before class and then she let the class out early so she could be here with us. She has someone else covering her class tonight so we can visit. She is busy.
John has been running their truck bed liner business (Rhino) near Keller (what a market this place is), but has grown more and more allergic to the material they use. He had a severe spell last week just sitting in the office. So I think that is for sale as of this weekend. Too bad because it is a money maker and a neat business. I guess that will make it marketable. He also dabbles in real estate and low end used cars. He is an entrepreneur of the first order…great guy. Incidentally, they met when they both were in college thirty years ago…both on the rebound so they hooked up. I think they are good to go, now especially with all the livestock things they do.
Enough on that for now; I think I will post.
