Thursday...a day late

This one was posted after the last...but should have preceeded it. I write the blog on Word then cut and paste to the blog spot when I am on line. Last night I wrote on line and forgot to post what I had written earlier! A senior moment, indeed.

Blog March 3, 2005 – Thursday

Off to a good start today from the “Ranch”. Had I mentioned that Rose stared down a goat ram? When I took her out this morning, she “kissed” one of the horses who promptly lowly neighed and trotted off, but Rusty the goat hid. I lured him out with a hand full of dog food…he is sooo cute.

We left at 8:00…fortunately, no rain so we got out of the barn yard with no problem.
We had a good time with the Huff’s. Elaine runs about three businesses and John does the heavy lifting. Unfortunately, he is allergic to the Rhino stuff so that one will disappear, I presume. It will be 39 years this summer since she spent the few weeks with us in New Jersey. She was 8 then…wow, how time flies.

Our next endeavor is to get to Van Horn, TX tonight. That will be a full day, but if we are going to make our schedule we have to do it. Aleene is driving now, so I have about an hour to relax. Our noon routine is down to a science. Aleene fixes lunch, we stop, let out the arf arf and eat…generator running to keep the refer cool…and to make coffee, sometimes…we walk around and the get going. The process is as much fun as the outcome, so I guess you could conclude that we enjoy the nomadic life so far.

We anticipate getting into a Flying J truck stop…the camper’s friend. They have everything you need, LP, gas, water, dump station, store, etc. They are only in the southwest as I understand and we have one picked out ahead 200 miles for our first try. I-20 ends in about 200 miles, turns into I-10 and that will take us to California eventually…we are making good progress.
