Heat in May

It goes without saying that it has been hot here. Not everyone or every public building has AC in the Valley. For the dozen or so days in the summer that exceeds 85 degrees (50 at night) it is not cost effective. But yesterday set a record at 97 in some spots...far and away the hottest on record. Today was mid 80s and tomorrow is a mere 82. But I will take it.

We have been comfortable, but today I did some serious yard work and washed windows, so I was dripping by 3:00 and promptly drank three glasses of iced tea and was glad to sit for while while I watched the 6:00 (eastern) news at 3:00 in the afternoon. I love that delay.

Aleene took off for Connelly's and I cleaned up and went over for supper. We were the watching "twins." Wednesday is the day Amy teaches in Tigard and she leaves before Bren gets home...so we ate with the boys and waited for Bren to show up after work. He takes over (after catching a quick bite) and we came home...while I went to choir. It is all orchistrated...I just have to pay attention to directions.

Our night out in Portland was super nice with the Springers. We went to a Korean restaurant (Be Won) and at Bibimbop and Bulgoggi...dishes we are comfortable with and it was good. Afterward we went to a mansion on top of Washington Park overlooking Portland and what a beautiful sight it was. The mansion was trimmed in rhodos (very common here) and well manicured. You could see both Mt. Hood and Mr. St. Helens. The view of the city and the valley was spectacular.

Learning lots of names of folks from church...and it is interesting to hear their stories. It was so hot the director let us out early after a musical workout...now for a good night's sleep.
